Former Reds captain Gerrard watched on as his side lost 4-2 on the night but progressed 7-6 on aggregate and as they get set to meet Real Madrid in the final of the competition, he has predicted this could be the beginning of something good for Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard is the odds-on favourite to become the next manager of Rangers.

"Even if they don't succeed in confirming the appointment I may say and on another tough season and another bad Old Firm result let's just hope that wasn't part of the calculation even being linked with Steven".

"If he doesn't challenge Celtic straight away it's got nothing to do with his ability".

Eric Reid files collusion grievance against the NFL
Some figures in the game say Reid's situation is down to a slow market for safeties, the position he plays, this offseason. A Pro Bowl selection in 2013, Reid has been a starter in each of his five National Football League seasons.

Gers said in a statement: "Rangers International Football Club PLC notify the resignation of two directors, Mr Paul Murray and Mr Barry Scott".

However, his former Liverpool team-mate Bellamy reckons Gerrard should bring his boots to Glasgow with him - because he'd still be the best player in Scottish football, even several years after retiring.

Despite Gerrard having no experience at senior management level, Barnes still thinks the move would be a good one - and that the former midfielder would have a strong right-hand man if Gary McAllister joined him. He's not going to go there and be naive enough to think all of a sudden "I'm going to turn it around".

'So it's not because Steven is inexperienced, it's not because he's not managed anyone. "It's more to do with the fact that if you have more money to pay them, the better players they will come".
