Raptors' Casey voted NBA's best coach by fellow coaches

Brad Stevens didn't receive a single vote for the NBCA Coach of the Year award

"Dwane Casey once again maximized the Toronto roster to achieve the top record in the Eastern Conference".

The award is voted on by National Basketball Association head coaches, so that means Stevens' peers must be awfully jealous of what he pulled off this season, grabbing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference despite losing Gordon Hayward basically as the season tipped off.

Other coaches who got votes for the NBCA award were Mike D'Antoni of the Houston Rockets, Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs, Brett Brown of the 76ers, Nate McMillan of the Indiana Pacers, Quin Snyder of the Utah Jazz, Terry Stotts of the Portland Trailblazers and Doc Rivers of the Los Angeles Clippers. But for Stevens to not receive one single vote from his peers, many of whom were downright schooled by Stevens countless times this year, is just plain stupid. Yet, he isn't being recognised for his achievements, and this has annoyed one of his former players in Isaiah Thomas.

Stevens' team will have the opportunity to catch its breath since the Eastern Conference Finals won't begin until Sunday, and Game 1 is home in Boston. And the other guys that got votes, they're unbelievable. "And the guy that should have won got it".

It could have happened to anybody. "I say if I would have fallen anywhere else, it wouldn't have been a problem". The country singer explained that she was unsure about how her recovery process would go .

He also stated he believes that the older coaches in the league decided not to vote for Stevens for fear of "elevating" his status.

Thomas has a bit of a point about Stevens considering the major contributions he was able to get out of the young players on his roster in addition to how the squad was able to maximize the talent of its bench and role players while adjusting to losing key guys throughout the season.

Up next, Stevens and his Celtics take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
