The team is set to arrive in Japan on May 28 and will leave for Singapore the same day, according to the manifest.
"The meeting is only the second between South Korea's Moon Jae-in and the North's Kim Jong-un", the news agency reports. Trump rapidly tweeted that the statement was "very good news" and told reporters that "we're talking to them now". "We would like to do it", Trump said, and "they very much like to do it". After a year of fiery rhetoric the two leaders agreed to meet in Singapore next month in what would be a historic summit.
The cancellation apparently followed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo setting some strict ground-rules ahead for the meeting, which in turn resulted in a North Korean minister reportedly saying that Pyongyang could make the USA "taste an appalling tragedy" and that a stalemate could lead to a "nuclear-to-nuclear showdown".
"The Failing @nytimes quotes 'a senior White House official, ' who doesn't exist, as saying 'even if the meeting were reinstated, holding it on June 12 would be impossible, given the lack of time and the amount of planning needed, '" Trump tweeted.
On Thursday, Trump had canceled the summit, citing the North's "tremendous anger and open hostility". The goal of the preliminary meetings includes drafting a communiqué for both leaders to approve at their historic meeting, the United States official said.
The meeting came about a month after the first inter-Korean summit took place at a South Korean building inside Panmunjeom.
"(Kim) once again has made clear his will for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and expressed his intent to settle the history of war and confrontation, and to cooperate for peace and prosperity through the success of the North Korea-US summit".
Until this point, it's been unclear whether Kim is willing to agree to a timetable for abandoning his nuclear weapons program and what demands he will have for the United States in return.
Pictures released by the Blue House showed Moon also shaking hands with Kim's sister Kim Yo Jong, who has played a major public role in recent talks with the South, including leading a delegation across the border during February's Winter Olympics.
The two leaders met for two hours Saturday and "frankly" discussed how to make the U.S. "We will see what happens", he said.
But relations between the rival Koreas chilled in recent weeks, with North Korea canceling a high-level meeting with Seoul over South Korea's participation in regular military exercises with the USA and insisting that it will not return to talks unless its grievances are resolved.
"It's really going to be the unveiling of a pre-prepared joint declaration, and I think that's the official launch of this denuclearization mechanism", Park said.
He did not detail the nature of the new USA communication with the North. The North Korean regime has said Kim is ready to talk to Trump "at any time".
