Wonder Woman was a home run for DC Entertainment and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns appears to be just as excited for the sequel as we are.

Gal Gadot confirmed past year that Brett Ratner won't be involved with the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel.

The next Wonder Woman adventure could take place in 1984.

Meanwhile, director Patty Jenkins has teased new details about the storyline of Wonder Woman 2.

"I did very much thematically want to get to love - because that's what she stands for - and the complexity of what we're facing", she said of the first film.

Wonder Woman was a big hit for Warner Bros. last year, setting numerous records on its way to $821 million worldwide and becoming the top-grossing film of all time from a female filmmaker with solo directing duties.

Wonder Woman 2 opens on November 1, 2019. The director-actor duo is returning for the sequel set against the backdrop of the Cold War.

It's always been rumored that the film will have a Cold War setting in the 1980s, but now we know it will be set specifically in 1984.

Jenkins also has previously confirmed that Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) will be playing Wonder Woman's nemesis Cheetah in the sequel. Narcos star Pedro Pascal is also among the franchise newcomers.

Jenkins, 46, told "Good Morning America" ahead of the film's release why the character Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, is her muse.
