An IDF soldier shot and killed Palestinian teenager Izz ad-Din Tamimi, 21, during riots in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh Wednesday morning, after being hit in the head with a big rock by the protester, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.
The soldier then immediately responded to the assault by firing at the Palestinian.
A Hamas official has said that its members accounted for 50 of the 60 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire on May 14, when the largest protests and clashes took place.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the victim as Izza Abdul-Hafiz al-Tamimi, adding that Israeli forces had directly fired three bullets at him.
It said the troops were on a search and arrest operation in the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah, when they were attacked by at least 10 stone-throwing Palestinians who hit one soldier on the head. "He was treated at the scene and he was later declared dead. The incident will be investigated".
