Prince Louis's Christening Shares a Date With Another Important Royal Event

All of these people are close friend or family of Their Royal Highnesses, in a statement released by Kensington Palace.

Britain's Prince Louis, the baby son of Prince William and his wife Kate, is due to be christened at a private ceremony at St James's Palace in London on Monday, July 9, 2018.

For photographs of the occasion the family have asked Matt Holyoak, who photographed the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh on their 70th wedding anniversary.

It's likely that Louis will have five godparents, as does Princess Charlotte, whereas Prince George, a future king, has seven.

According to tradition, water from the River Jordan is set to be used for Louis's christening.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will host a private tea party at Clarence House following the christening, where guests will be treated to christening cake made from a tier of the couple's wedding cake.

Will that honor go to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex?

Prince George's baptism was kept uncharacteristically small, in a shift away from the larger ceremonies that his father and grandfather enjoyed at Buckingham Palace. Carter's sister-in-law, Sophia Carter, is a godmother to Princess Charlotte.

Prince William, Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will appear together for the first time.
