In an interview with the Sun published late Thursday, as he dined with May, Trump said her proposal to execute a so-called "soft Brexit", maintaining ties with the European Union, was wrong and would torpedo a us trade deal. I am just saying I think he would be a great prime minister.

"I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn't agree, she didn't listen to me", Trump said.

"I have a lot of respect for Boris.

And unfortunately there was a story that was done, which was, you know, generally fine", Trump said.

Trump also refused to take a question from Jim Acosta, chief White House correspondent for CNN, saying he doesn't answer questions from the "fake news" outlet.
