According to a report on MLB.com, the Washington Nationals All-Star may be available for a trade before Tuesday's non-waiver Trade Deadline.

"Bryce is not going anywhere", Rizzo told Janes.

The Washington Nationals have a decision to make, and they have just a few hours to make it.

With the postseason unlikely, it appears the Nationals have chose to trade Harper, who becomes a free agent after the season.

The 2015 NL MVP has been with Washington since they selected Harper with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft.

Hunt said Wang made an offer "to open discussions about a possible free-trade deal between Britain and China post Brexit". Britain and China are major economic partners, doing about $91 billion annually in commerce.

The Dodgers, Indians, and Yankees are also rumored to be at least somewhat interested in Harper.

In other words, it may not be that the front office "believe [s] in this team", it may instead be that ownership stepped in and forced their hand.

No one seems sure what Harper might earn in free agency after struggling to hit above.215 this season while his strikeout rates jumped to their highest point since 2014. The Nationals might not see a reason to tie up so much money in Harper when Robles, Soto, Eaton and Taylor are under team control for the foreseeable future. That said, ownership does, you know, own the thing, and they have a different set of priorities sometimes.

Put simply, players of Harper's caliber simply don't change teams at the deadline very often. In fact, Rizzo says they are trying to win the NL East.
