Last week at Big Ten media days in Chicago, Urban Meyer said he had received a text about the 2015 incident the previous night and that "there was nothing". A report from former ESPN and soon-to-be Stadium reporter Brett McMurphy heavily calls that account into question.
The texts show that Meyer knew about the situation, claims McMurphy, and Courtney Smith added that, "All the [coaches'] wives knew. I eagerly look forward to the resolution of this matter". I was never told about anything and nothing ever came to light.
"Courtney: "I hope urban is smarter than that" Lindsey: "[Urban] doesn't know what to think" Courtney: "I don't really care.
Last week, Meyer announced that Smith had been fired.
But in the Stadium interview, Courtney Smith said that Shelley Meyer never confirmed that she told her husband about the abuse. "You should tell Urban'". "You should tell Urban.' I know Shelley did everything she could". In 2014, Meyer's third year on the sidelines, Ohio State won the College Football Playoff title with a record of 14-1.
Police reports obtained by cleveland.com detail a tumultuous three-year period of domestic incidents involving the Smiths from 2015 to 2018. Smith, meanwhile, was kept on the staff after the incident.
"All the [coaches] wives knew", Courtney told McMurphy. "They all did. Every single one of them".
Epic Will Keep Fortnite Off Google's Store to Make More Money
Just because the game will eventually come to all Android devices doesn't mean it won't be a timed exclusive. "On open platforms like PC, Mac, and Android , Epic's goal is to bring its games directly to customers".
Koffel said both sides agreed to an expedited discovery process to evaluate Courtney Smith's claims. He said he notified his boss of the allegation but "what was reported wasn't what happened". However, in a revised report, the Powell Police that arrest box was no longer checked.
Photos of the injuries to Courtney are below, again from McMurphy.
But just the same, Ohio State is staring at a potential end game it never could have imagined with its superstar coach.
Meyer first made a name for himself as coach of Utah in the early 2000s. Smith has never been convicted of domestic violence, though he was arrested in 2009 for aggravated battery on a pregnant victim following a fight with Courtney. She also alleged Zach hit her with the metal top of a smokeless tobacco can. At the conference, he said his decision to fire him after the trespassing charges from back in May, was carefully thought out and that although it was a "tough call" it was "in the best interest of our team".
McMurphy's entire report is obviously worth reading, but the pertinent information includes the following. Charges were dropped, but Courtney said she only did so after being pressured by two close friends on Urban Meyer: Hiram de Fries and Earle Bruce.
In whole, there are a slew of police reports, text messages and legitimate media reports that point to Smith's alleged abuse and Meyer's alleged knowledge of the abuse as it was ongoing.
