According to reports, Mollie Tibbetts, the 20-year-old Iowa college student who was last seen July 18, has been found dead. In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Special Agent in Charge Rick Rahn said officers conducted a "lengthy interview" with Rivera, who then showed them where the body was.
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds says residents are heartbroken and angered by news that a man whom authorities say was in the country illegally has been charged with killing a University of Iowa student who has been missing for weeks. Video showed Tibbetts jogging and Rivera's auto, the AP reported. Rivera then blacked out, he told investigators, and does not remember anything until he came to an intersection in his vehicle.
President Donald Trump is making the death of Iowa teen Mollie Tibbets a topic of political debate, following news that an undocumented immigrant was charged with her murder.
He said an autopsy, scheduled for Wednesday, will determine when Tibbetts died and how.
Greg Willey of Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa told the AP he learned that her body had been found from a close family friend of Tibbetts' on Tuesday morning.
Investigators said Tibbetts was last seen July 18 in Brooklyn, a rural town of about 1,400 people, as she took a routine evening jog.
He told police he didn't recall killing Mollie, but he drove to the entrance to a cornfield and saw he had a pair of headphones on his lap and then realized he put her in the trunk of his auto. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement sent a detainer request to local authorities for Rivera, who is from Mexico, according to an ICE spokesman.
Authorities say charges were filed in the Poweshiek County, Iowa, District Court and the case will be prosecuted by the Iowa Attorney General's Area Prosecution Division.

Before she went missing, Tibbetts' brother dropped her off at her boyfriend's house so she could dog-sit, HLN reported.
If convicted, Rivera faces life in prison without a chance of parole.
Tibbetts, 20, was last seen jogging in the small community of Brooklyn, Iowa, about an hour east of Des Moines. She took off running and he in turn chased her down.
"You heard about today with the illegal alien coming in, very sadly, from Mexico and you saw what happened to that incredible, lovely young woman", Trump said. "We just spoke to the family and I told them they raised a great daughter".
The search for Tibbetts involved officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, state and local agencies.
Authorities, who had narrowed their search to a carwash, Tibbetts's boyfriend's home, a truck stop and two farms.
"Our hearts go out to the Tibbetts family and to the Brooklyn community".
Fox News reported that her body was found in Iowa, but no other details have been released. They found her in a cornfield, and "there were corn stalks placed over the top of her", Rahn said. Rivera later led investigators to the location.
