Accumulated rain from what is now Tropical Depression Gordon, makes for a big splash across a frontage road along Interstate 55 in Jackson, Miss., Wednesday.
Portions of central IL are under a flash flood watch starting at midnight Thursday through Sunday morning, according to an alert issued by the National Weather Service in Lincoln.
A Flood Watch continues for McKean and Potter counties in northern PA from 8pm Saturday evening through Monday evening. Everyone in central in needs to be aware that Flash Flooding is a danger this weekend and you should not drive through a flooded roadway. As much as 6 inches of rain are expected to fall in some areas of the state, particularly along the Interstate 44 corridor. It's expected to be heavier over eastern areas on Sunday. The forecasted high for Sunday is 15 C. The high Saturday will be 18 C, with temperatures dropping to 11 C overnight Saturday. Ponding on area roadways is possible everywhere, including during the Monday morning commute. This could lead to some high water issues in spots and it's something to be on guard for as we head through this time period.
There is a potential barrier for the heaviest rain and that is the cool, dry air that will be working into the region from the north from high pressure there. Cooling is expected throughout the day, to the lower 60s by evening.
