Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker' revealed in full makeup for first time

Joaquin Phoenix as Joker

First Look: Joaquin Phoenix in Full Joker Makeup

Following months of will-he-or-won't-he speculation, Joaquin Phoenix has assumed the role of the Clown Prince of Crime in Todd Phillips's Joker.

In the short video, we see Phoenix's character, Arthur, standing emotionless and still as lights flicker over his face while Laughing by The Guess Who plays.

Worth noting: this is just a camera test. Phoenix's expressions are likely purely a test of how the makeup acts under different conditions. The footage doesn't show much but it does give us a look at Phoenix sporting some eerily familiar Clown makeup. It's a surprisingly more traditional take on the character's facepaint, one that moves away from the smeared and distressed look of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight version and Jared Leto's punk rock take in Suicide Squad.
