Selena Gomez Has 'Emotional Breakdown' and Now Receiving Mental Health Treatment

Selena Gomez Hospitalized for Emotional Breakdown

Selena Gomez has reportedly been hospitalised twice in the past two weeks after suffering a reported emotional breakdown.

While the 26-year-old was reportedly released a few days later, TMZ noted that she had to be readmitted sometime during the beginning of October due to her still-low white blood cell count. One of Gomez's relatives then drove the "despondent" singer-actress from her home in Studio City, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Selena is allegedly receiving Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), a therapy she has used in the past.

Late last month, Gomez hosted an Instagram Live, telling her followers and fans that she'd been facing depression for the last five years.

A source told ET, "Selena has dealt with depression for a while and her and the people around her have always kept an eye on how she feels, even more so since her kidney transplant".

Though it was unclear at the time what caused her to receive help, she later explained that it was her newfound lupus diagnosis and chemotherapy treatments that made her step away from the limelight. She's surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. In August, her one-time best friend and former Disney co-star Demi Lovato was hospitalized for an alleged heroin overdose. She's now currently in a mental health facility for treatment.

Selena has been keeping a low profile since announcing that she will be taking a social media break.

"Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings". Gomez didn't attend the American Music Awards last night and the site notes that her team has been virtually silent recently.
