Florida health officials say a child is the first to die during this year's flu season.

The health department also plans to announce additional flu shot clinics for children and adults who cannot be present for the drive through event.

Health professionals say it's time to get a flu vaccine.

Influenza vaccination has been shown to reduce a child's likelihood of dying from influenza by up to 60 percent.

"The more people who get the flu shot, the less chance the virus can spread while protecting more people.", Webby said.

The exact timing and duration of the flu season varies from year to year, but often cases begin to increase in October, according to another report by the CDC.

Djokovic cruises to Shanghai title
Djokovic secured his fourth title at the tournament with a convincing 6-3 6-4 victory over Borna Coric in Sunday's final. However, it all proved to be futile in the end, as the Serbian closed out the match in the following game.

On the positive side of things, 68 per cent of parents believed that the flu vaccine was the best way to prevent their children from getting the flu. Last year, 180 children died from the flu, 80 percent of which didn't receive the shot. Last year, the CDC says more than 170 children lost their lives because of flu-related illnesses.

Pregnant women can get their vaccines administered anytime during their pregnancies. The child was otherwise healthy, with no known underlying medical conditions. "And the way you get protected is to be immunized against influenza", Sikora said Monday, the first day of the province's influenza immunization program.

Making it the deadliest season in more than four decades.

Still, the "biggest message", said Webby, who is a member of the World Health Organization's flu vaccine composition group, is vaccination.

Florida health officials note that most pediatric deaths are reported in unvaccinated children.

"Expecting mothers face a number of threats to their health and the health of their baby during pregnancy, and getting the flu is one of them", stated study co-author Allison Naleway. And we know that the majority of people in the U.S.do not get vaccinated for influenza, despite it being recommended for everyone over the age of six months. The flu vaccine is available now in many locations such as a local doctor's office, pharmacies, grocery stores and health departments.
