Cardinals CB Peterson requests trade

Should the Steelers try to make a move for Patrick Peterson

Should the Steelers try to make a move for Patrick Peterson

"I don't know if we wll, but you know, it's all a fairy tale dream we can all live in until the trade deadline is up".

The asking price for Peterson would be expected to be a second- or third-round pick, considering his skill set makes his value worth a first-rounder.

Citing league sources, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday afternoon that cornerback Patrick Peterson has asked the Cardinals to trade him by the NFL's October 30 trade deadline.

Minutes after the report came out that Peterson has requested a trade from the Cardinals, his cousin tweeted his preferred destination was the Saints.

Peterson reportedly "desperately" wants to leave the Cardinals amid what he feels is a deteriorating situation, a source told Schefter. Even though this hypothetical secondary combination sounds great, one does wonder what it would take to get Peterson?

Weird Rectangular Iceberg in Antarctica Isn't Alone, NASA Photos Show
A Landsat 8 satellite image shows part of the northern Antarctic Peninsula, with an arrow pointing to the rectangular iceberg. But how does an iceberg take on such a uniform shape? The rectangular iceberg itself seems to be freshly calved from Larsen C.

Peterson signed a five-year, $70 million extension just before the start of the 2014 season that expires after the 2020 season.

The eight-year veteran has tallied 35 total tackles, three pass breakups and two interceptions in seven games this season. As they sit on top of the NFC South with a record of 5-1, the Saints are one of a handful of teams who could be legitimately considered as a Super Bowl contender.

Peterson was originally selected by the Cardinals out of LSU with the fifth pick in the 2011 draft. They could ask him to honor his current contract.

It will be interesting to see the Cardinals roster over the next week.
