Nonito Donaire is moving down two weight divisions from his bout with Carl Frampton to face Ryan Burnett

Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire is the new World Boxing Association bantamweight super champion.

The Filipino Flash Nonito Donaire Jr captured another world title when he defeated Irish former WBA bantamweight world champion Ryan Burnett in a weird circumstance Saturday night (Sunday morning in Manila) at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, United Kingdom in the bantamweight quarterfinal of the World Boxing Super Series.

"At that moment I was already getting my groove on", Donaire said by phone after the victory.

Donaire, a former four- weight champion, said: "Burnett is a smart, rugged guy and I don't doubt what he's capable of, so I will use everything in my capabilities to take that away".

Burnett was able to survive the round, but was unable to continue due to a freak hip injury. So at the moment, I really didn't know what was going on with it.

With the win, Donaire improves to 39-5 with 25 wins via KO.

Josh "The Tartan Tornado" Taylor (13-0, 11 KOs) versus Ryan "Blue Chip" Martin (22-0, 12 KOs) is a battle between two undefeated super lightweights, with the victor advancing closer to the coveted Ali Trophy. "But aside from that I don't really [know much], but I'm very excited for the fight".
