Fossil gets active with Sport smartwatch

While there's still a noticeable lack of smartphone manufacturers working with Wear OS, Fossil is still churning out Wear OS watches left and right.

It's hard to take Google's Wear OS software platform seriously in the Apple-dominated smartwatch market when so many recent releases have come powered by an nearly three year-old processor.

With Wear OS receiving a redesign back in September, a few manufacturers have been looking to leverage the OS in new devices. But the Sport runs on the new 3100 SoC, which should provide noticeable improvements in battery life and performance. There's NFC for Google Pay, GPS, 5 ATM water resistance, a heart-rate monitor and an altimeter. Further, the new Fossil Watch Sport is swim-proof.

Finally, you'll be looking at a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a 390 x 390 resolution. "The Fossil Sport smartwatch represents our best efforts yet, made possible through the combination of Qualcomm's world class Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform and Fossil's ingenious pulse of the evolving consumer needs".

The Fossil Watch becomes officially available on Fossils website starting today, November 8 and will b e available in select Fossil retail stores around the globe on November 12. As typical, there are two sizes to choose from - 41mm and 43mm - both of which come with a nylon and aluminium case.
