Robert Downey Jr., who saw his career revived in a major way when he was tapped to play Tony Stark in the first Iron Man, took to Instagram to share his gratitude and pay tribute to the late Stan Lee. "He was the greatest, most decent man". Reports suggest that Stan Lee felt uneasy following which an ambulance was called at his Hollywood Hills home. He was transported to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center where he passed away shortly after.
He died early Monday in Los Angeles, his daughter confirmed to usa entertainment outlets.
And Piers wrote: "RIP Stan Lee, 95".
Despite this, the news has hit the entertainment industry and his fans hard, with many of them - famous or otherwise - already expressing their condolences and appreciation online for a man who touched so many lives. He ended up writing comics himself in short order, and helped create characters that would make Marvel a major rival to DC Comics (of Superman and Batman fame) in the 1960s.

Born in Manhattan to Romanian Jewish immigrants, Stan Lee graduated from DeWitt Clinton HS in The Bronx at 16 and soon got his start in the comic-book biz as a gopher, refilling inkwells, handling lunch deliveries and the like. The Avengers also signed off their tributes with the iconic phrase "Excelsior!" - a Latin phrase meaning "ever upwards", which was Stan Lee's signature sign off word.
But he leaves behind a legacy of characters that will outlive the rest of us.
Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds tweeted: "Damn". "To those of us who have been so deeply affected by the humanity of his imagination, the understanding of reaching beyond our potential and the necessity of tapping into our immeasurable imaginations, we thank you and are forever indebted", he said.
