Rita Ora has come under fire on social media for lip-syncing her way through Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
John Legend - who performed "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" aboard a Build-A-Bear sailboat float - took to Twitter on Thursday to explain that lip syncing was the only way to go. During their performances, you may have been wondering if your favorite musicians were performing live, or if they were lip-syncing along to a pre-recorded track.
And Ora immediately tweeted after the gaffe, replying to Legend's tweet with a comment and explanation of her own. "Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!"
Rita Ora likely has a lot to be thankful for this year, but she'll probably want to forget this lip-syncing gaffe.
'Watching Rita Ora fail at lip syncing and the camera people having to cut away from her made my #MacysDayParade, ' added another. When you come to [an] ORA show get ready!
One quipped: "Is Rita Ora listening to the same song we are?" Don't be so quick to judge! In 2016, Just Jared pointed out that in addition to singers performing live on moving floats being "a logistical nightmare", the weather in New York City is usually quite cold on Thanksgiving.
France imposes sanctions against 18 Saudis over Khashoggi murder
They tasked a group of 50 lawyers to file a complaint with the Tunisian courts to oppose the visit, lawyer Nizar Boujlel said. Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was killed on October 2 while visiting the Saudi Consulate in Ankara, Turkey.
In response, Rita tweeted: "Exactly!"
Macy's, the American department store chain that throws the parade, released a public apology.
Following the incident, John tweeted: "Fun fact".
The company said "several recording artists experienced technical difficulties that negatively impacted their performance". Now let me go find some turkey!'
Fellow performer John Legend felt obligated to defend Ora's performance in a tweet.
