UCF Knights Hit Top 10 in College Football Playoff Rankings

If the Gators hold that spot, they will likely earn an at-large appearance in one of the major bowl games, probably the Peach Bowl on December 29 or the Fiesta Bowl on January 1.

The Panthers (7-4) are one of the keys that could help UCF pick the lock on the playoff. James Franklin's team moved up two spots from its previous season-high ranking of No. 14 in the poll after recovering from a season-low No. 21 after losing to MI in Ann Arbor. 15 matchups are slated for Black Friday, including Oklahoma at West Virginia, Washington at Washington State and Nebraska at Iowa.

Michigan Wolverines tight end Zach Gentry (83) tries to block a kick in the second half against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan Stadium. UCF 10. Ohio State 11. (From the second-tier conferences, known as the Group of Five, Central Florida remains undefeated, with 23 straight wins, and Utah State is 10-1, but the selection committee has ignored such teams in the past.) There were seven in 2014 and 2015 - when North Carolina, at 10-1, was not considered a serious contender. That depends on what happens elsewhere this weekend and whether any unexpected teams earn automatic spots by winning their conference championship games next week.

The biggest complaint about these playoffs is only four teams are picked to get in. West Virginia faces No. 6 Oklahoma this week, and No. 14 Texas might get the Sooners next week in the Big 12 title game.

Marcus Harris's weight of runs in recent seasons has been rewarded with selection for Australia's first two Tests against India . Marcus Stoinis successfully defended 13 off the final over, after at one point India had required 70 from 32 balls.

Also that night, Washington State hosts No. 16 Washington (8-3) in the 112th Apple Cup.

Unlike last week, there was a little movement in the top 10.

The top three teams are unchanged with Alabama ranked first followed by Clemson and Notre Dame. Georgia, Oklahoma and LSU would be the first three teams out of the playoff bracket. That is why the Buckeyes were jumped in the rankings by UCF, which moved from 11th to ninth.
