A WICKFORD woman who has gone missing in New Zealand was last seen alive with a male companion, said police.

They had previously been speaking with him over the disappearance.

The suspect, who was being questioned by police in relation to her disappearance, will remain in police custody until Monday when he will appear at Auckland District Court.

New Zealand police confirmed on Saturday afternoon they are treating the investigation as a homicide.

The announcement follows a review of CCTV footage, the forensic examination of a hotel where she was last seen on Saturday 1 December, and the discovery of a vehicle. "We are determined to find her and return her to her family", Mr Beard said.

Her brother, Michael Millane, said the family began getting anxious on Monday when she did not reply to messages.

"We know that he [the 26-year-old man] was with her on the Saturday evening and went to a number of places before going to the CityLife Hotel".

Today police have identified and secured a vehicle of interest and are now making inquiries to find out exactly where that vehicle has been, Mr Beard said.

The last confirmed sighting of Millane was at the CityLife Hotel, in Queen St, at 9.41pm on Saturday.

This morning police released photos of a necklace and pink Casio Baby-G watch Millane was thought to be wearing when she disappeared, and said her passport was also missing.

"We still do not know where Grace is", Detective Inspector Beard said.

More than two dozen police officers have been investigating the 22-year-old's disappearance since she was reported missing earlier this week.
