Lexington, Kentucky, officers mourn loss of Krispy Kreme doughnut truck

U.S. police in the state of Kentucky have found some humour after an empty doughnut truck caught fire.

WLEX reported that the driver of the truck noticed smoke coming from the back and pulled over and safely escaped.

Lexington police posted photos on social media of the blackened side of the truck and officers jokingly mourning the truck's loss.

Police captioned the photos, "No words".

Nobody was hurt in the fire, but all the doughnuts in the back of the truck were lost.

The fire occurred near Man o' War Boulevard and Pink Pigeon Parkway causing lane closures.

The department posted an image of heartbroken officers with the caption, "No words".

Soon after, police department officials from across the country began sending messages of support.

"We're thinking of you during this hard time...and have more doughnuts on the way!" the company tweeted Tuesday.
