The mayor made the announcement in the State of the City address that he delivered January 10.

"Once a bill is released we would like to have a seat at the table and make sure that the City Council members along with the mayor's office understand the challenges that come up in the industry", he said.

"Every other major nation recognizes the necessity of Paid Personal Time", de Blasio said.

Mr de Blasio, who has sought to build a national profile during his five years in office, said that the city was now capable of providing healthcare for New Yorkers regardless of their income or immigration status. At this point, there are more questions than answers, but one thing is certain-if successfully enacted, the mayor's paid time off proposal will significantly impact New York City employers.

Trump cancels Davos trip over partial govt. shutdown
Now 21 days into the partial government shutdown (tied for the longest ever in US history), it's crunch time for Trump. Still, he declared: "A wall works". "What is manufactured is the use of the word 'manufactured, '" Trump said.

De Blasio said his goal is to get the 600,000 New Yorkers without health care - about half undocumented immigrants - access to a primary care doctor and specialty care, prescription drugs and mental health services.

In 2018, the NYC Ferry launched its Soundview and East River routes, and more waterway transportation will soon be available to New Yorkers, the mayor said. In addition to offering assistance to renters facing objectionable conditions and alleged harassment, the mayor promised that the new bureau would hold to account any property owners it deems "cheat their tenants". The city will double the number of intersections where buses are given green light priority and keep bus lanes clear, the major promised, with expanded camera enforcement and seven dedicated tow truck teams within NYPD, the departments' "first-ever tow truck units dedicated exclusively to keeping parked cars out of bus lanes".

De Blasio said his programs would increase happiness in the city.

In September the city will continue to expand it's 3K program, which provides free, all-day preschool for 3 year olds. No new taxes are going towards the program. Since the partnership began, it's provided more than 220,000 screenings and more than 55,000 eyeglasses to Community School students in need, according to the company. "Today we yet again pave the path towards a new generation of workers' rights that meet the needs and realities of today's workforce with the right to paid time off - a win-win for workers, employers, and our economy".
