The US said Wednesday it stood ready to us "all options" if Maduro tries to quash the opposition, in what was an implied threat of military force.

Maduro says the nation's woes are a result of U.S. sanctions against the oil-rich state as well as deliberate attempts to sow discord among its people from overseas.

Washington has refused to comply with Maduro's order but has ordered its nonessential staff to leave the tumultuous country, citing security concerns.

Maduro reacted by cutting all ties with the USA and ordering American diplomats to leave the country within 72 hours. "We want to rebuild our country".

The diplomat went on saying that Russian Federation has had no contacts and does not plan any with Venezuelan parliament speaker Juan Guaido, whom a few countries have recognized as Venezuela's head of state.

All eyes have been on the military, a traditional arbiter of political disputes in Venezuela, as a critical indicator of whether the opposition will succeed in establishing a new government. [President Donald] Trump's efforts to install a far right opposition will only incite violence and further destabilize the region.

Guaido has said he needs the backing of three critical groups: The people, the global community and the military.

Facing sanctions and worldwide pressure, Venezuela is increasingly turning to Turkey as a partner in the Middle East.

Venezuela's military brass pledged unwavering support to Maduro, delivering vows of loyalty Thursday before rows of green-uniformed officers on state television.

The three holdouts included Mexico, which has maintained a principle of non-intervention under leftist President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, as well as Guyana and Saint Lucia.
