McCabe was sacked after both the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) found that he had engaged in misconduct. The Justice Department has disputed McCabe's depiction of the conversations.

McCabe's comments shed light on Trump's public attacks on investigators.
