Since Xiaomi doesn't certify it's phones for Australia it is unclear whether it will work on the new Australian 5G carrier networks. The new Xiaomi 5G phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor paired with X50 modem. This means aside from the new chipset and 5G support, the Mi Mix 3 5G has the same hardware as of the original Mi Mix 3 that debuted in China back in October previous year.

Xiaomi's Director of Product Management Donovan Sung also took the time to demo the upcoming Mi Mix 3 5G smartphone by placing a video call right on stage at the event.

Xiaomi has launched the Mi 9 and a 5G variant of the Mi Mix 3 at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2019. Xiaomi has upgraded the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 to its successor Snapdragon 855. At the moment the current basic version of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 costs just under 500 euros, while the 5G variant can be purchased at a price starting of 599 euros (about $679). The Mi 9 packs a 6.4-inch screen, in-screen fingerprint sensor, sapphire glass lens covers over the rear "AI triple-camera" module - which includes a 48MP Sony camera - and a mesmerizing reflective nano-laser engraved holographic pattern and nano-coating to produce a rainbowed halo effect on the Mi 9's Gorilla Glass 5 back that I can not stop staring at.

The new Xiaomi Mi 9 has a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED screen with a tiny teardrop notch to house the front camera, protected by Gorilla Glass 6.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 price in the global markets has been set at Euro 449 (roughly Rs. 36,200) for the base 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage model will be available at Euro 499 (roughly Rs. 40,200). The smartphone comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB built-in storage. Xiaomi says the new system has been certified safe by TÜV Rheinland and announced three 20W wireless chargers to use it with: a 20W Mi Wireless Charging Pad, 20W wireless auto charger, and a 10,000 mAh wireless power bank.

Huawei's latest foldable phone, Mate X, also supports 5G. "The main camera utilises a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 1/2" sensor, while the triple camera setup uses AI to improve results. Up front, the handset features a 20MP sensor that can also be used for face unlock in some regions.
