Chelsea boss Sarri 'very sorry' for Ranieri after Fulham sacking

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has refused to confirm whether Kepa Arrizabalaga will return to the team at Fulham on Sunday after the controversial keeper was cast into exile following his Wembley mutiny.

Sarri has been under pressure in recent weeks, but back-to-back strong performances against Manchester City and Tottenham has halted talk of the Italian losing his job imminently.

Caballero may have not got the appearance that he was hoping for, but it appears likely that he will get another year as a Chelsea player. "Sir Alex text me late last night, which was pretty incredible", said Parker, who inherits a side that lost seven of their last eight league games under Ranieri.

"We all know what Claudio is like as a man - a true classy man in every sense and he came in this morning and addressed the players", continued Parker.

Jorginho, who was the embodiment of "Sarri-ball" at Napoli, has upset some fans by inadvertently pushing N'Golo Kante out of position in Chelsea's midfield.

Chelsea will look to regain their place in the top four of the Premier League when they travel to face Fulham in a west London derby at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

City secured the first piece of silverware in the English season last week with a penalty shootout win over Chelsea at Wembley. The Gunners are now ranked fourth in the Premier League with 56 points, four behind Spurs who are third in the standings.

"I realise the task ahead is very hard, but it's not mathematically impossible so certainly it's something we'll strive to do". He played very well in the last match, better in the second half than in the first.

"I think we need to change three or four players, I don't know how many (precisely)", Sarri told his pre-match press conference.

"So I think he needs to improve in the physical condition - especially the acceleration - and then he will be able to score of course". We lost a final only on penalties, but we played really a very good match. "In England, the season is really very hard". I would be really very happy'.

"We need to continue, first of all, with the performance because the result is only a outcome", Sarri added. For him, it's very important to finish the match in that way.

"To think he spent the time to write a long, detailed message giving me some advice on how he sees things was truly inspirational".

"This is football and Claudio said to me: "We all understand how football works".
