He claimed George Conway was "VERY jealous of his wife's success" and was assailing the president because Trump "didn't give him the job he so desperately wanted". Trump responded by calling Conway "a total loser", then, upon reflection, a "stone cold LOSER & husband from hell!"
Trump ripped into George Conway on twitter early Wednesday saying, he is very jealous of his wife KellyAnne Conway and her success.
Of all the brawls Trump has waded into, his back-and-forth with Conway, a lawyer who specializes in litigation, has been one of the more eyebrow-raising in Washington.
"It's usually the other way around", she said.
"He's just trying to get publicity for himself", Trump said when asked about Conway's op-ed.
And it seemed likely to bring the situation to a painful head - particularly after George Conway responded to Trump's latest tweet with this succinct response: "You. Are".

From there, the attacker drove to the Palestinian village of Bruqin, abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, Col Conricus said. The army confirmed later that the dead Israeli was a soldier, Staff Sgt.
Asked this week about her husband's concerns for the President's mental health, Kellyanne Conway said simply: "No, I don't share those concerns".
"You think he should take that sitting down?"
"I am profoundly grateful to you and to the Attorney General for selecting me to serve as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division of the Department of Justice", Conway wrote to Trump in the letter. "Kellyanne is a wonderful woman, and I call him Mr. Kellyanne", Trump added.
It was the second time in two days that Trump had called Conway a "loser" on Twitter.
Mr Trump issued a series of tweets over the weekend in which he attacked the late senator John McCain, Google and the Russian Federation investigation, prompting Mr Conway to suggest the president had a narcissistic personality disorder. Kellyanne asked of Trump, sounding like she was rooting for her boss to successfully clobber her husband. "The mendacity, the incompetence, it's just maddening to watch".
I know this story is all the rage again - due to escalations on both sides, and the media's voracious appetite for covering the soap opera-esque drama - but I must admit I feel nearly totally ambivalent about it. "That's basically it. Frankly, it's so I don't end up screaming at her about it", he told the Post.
"It's a way that I can get honesty out because there's tremendous dishonesty with respect to the (media)", he said.
