By promoting ambitious forward-thinking policies including the Green New Deal, a bill to address human-induced climate-change, Ocasio-Cortez has found herself the preferred target of white conservative ire in the United States - including becoming the recipient of multiple death threats, according to reports.

"So here you go, you guys are breaking news".

The New York Democrat said on Yahoo News's Skullduggery podcast that she has stopped using her Facebook account - even though her official page remains active and still runs active advertisements sponsored by her campaign, according to the Washington Post.

Democrats responded Saturday to President Trump's tweet of a 9/11 video that included an attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar, the Washington Post reports.

"Nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives to Islamic terrorists on 9/11, yet Omar diminishes it as: 'Some people did something.' Democrat leaders need to condemn her brazen display of disrespect", she said.

Omar delivered the keynote speech at a fundraiser for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on March 23 where she was recorded describing the September 11 attacks as merely an event where "some people did something".

Ocasio-Cortez shot to national prominence a year ago after unseating New York Rep. Joe Crowley, then a top Democrat in the House. "And I think that-and I also acknowledge my role in in this as well in that I hope to play a facilitating role in this conversation and a supportive role in this conversation, but I also know there are people that have been leading on this for a long time like Congresswoman McCollum". "I try to do that during the workweek".

Ocasio-Cortez immediately came to Omar's defense and accused the former Navy SEAL of not properly supporting 9/11 victims and first responders.

In March, she said that she "had been clear" about how she would vote on an impeachment resolution, but that she would "defer to party leadership" regarding an actual impeachment vote.

She then added that her "love and commitment to our country and that of my colleagues should never be in question".

"First Member of Congress to ever describe terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 as 'some people who did something.' Unbelievable".
